Behind every repaired VUCH piece lies a story of craftsmanship and years of experience – and one of the people behind it all is our head seamstress Iva. In our interview, she shared how long she’s been sewing, what she loves most about her job, and how the repair process works when products are sent back to us. Iva gave us a peek behind the scenes, where repairs aren’t routine – they’re a thoughtful way of giving each item a second chance.
How long have you been a seamstress?
I’ve been in the industry for around 30 years.
And for VUCH?
I’ve been sewing for VUCH for 2 years now.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The creativity. We extend the life of the products. Nothing gets thrown away if it can still serve. We rescue what still has potential.
How many bags do you repair daily?
Marcelka and I repair about 10 items each per day on average. Sometimes more, sometimes less. We also collaborate closely with customer support to handle special requests.
Do you prefer sewing new products or repairing?
After all these years, I definitely prefer repairing. It’s about giving a product a new life instead of throwing it away. I love the variety that comes with fixing things.
How does the repair process at VUCH work?
The claims team evaluates whether the product can be repaired. Every piece goes through our hands. We inspect it, identify the issue, and fix it. Before sending it back, we do one final check – if we spot anything else, we fix that too. Even if the customer didn’t mention it.
And what about individual adjustments?
Sometimes the customer team comes over and says: “Iva, the strap on this bum bag is too short – can we adjust it?” And I say: “Of course!” So the customer keeps the item, and we modify it using parts we have.
Or if the strap is too long, we can shorten it. These extras are not required – but we enjoy them. Because they make our customers happy.
