Measure twice, cut once is no exception for this topic. None of us wants to pay hefty fines for exceeding carry-on luggage limits. But what are those limits?
Almost everyone travels with a carry-on bag. Whether it’s just a crossbody bag or a backpack, it’s always worth thinking about the allowed dimensions. Each carrier has its own set limits that passengers must not exceed, otherwise, they will be fined.
Even a few cm matter
Don’t want to lug around a suitcase, so you decide to travel only with a large backpack on your back? Here you’ll find a list of the most frequently searched airlines and their dimensions:
- Ryanair – 40 × 25 × 20 cm
- ČSA / Smart Wings – 55 × 45 × 25 cm
- Lufthansa – 55 × 40 × 23 cm + personal bag
- Air France / KLM – 55 × 35 × 25 cm + personal bag
With Smart Wings, even our largest backpack, Elion, can travel as it fully meets the dimensions. Lufthansa and Air France offer space for Sirius. With Ryanair, you have to count on less space, so Noel can be your companion.
Some airlines offer the possibility of having not only a carry-on but also a so-called personal bag. Here, the dimension is around 35 × 20 × 20 cm. So an ideal choice is, for example, the Fossy Mini handbag.
With a backpack (not only) on your back
There’s nothing better than having everything under control. And literally. A backpack like Livine has a special strap on the back that you just slip over the handle of the suitcase and you’re off. And it’s definitely not the only one. Here you can see all the backpacks that have this handy feature.
Whatever you decide, always remember that less is sometimes more. Backpacks are not inflatable, so it’s good to think about these allowed dimensions. Have a safe flight!
